Austin Holcombe sweeps Memorial Day weekend at Tyler County and Potomac

For Memorial Day weekend, Austin Holcombe followed the Modified Mafia Tour up North to Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, W.Va.) on Saturday and Potomac Speedway (Budds Creek, Md.) on Sunday evening for a doubleheader.

Among a strong 35-car field on Saturday, Holcombe qualified second-fastest in his group and earned the outside pole for the A-Main after finishing second in the Climb to the Pole. Austin took the lead from the drop of the green flag and led all 40 circuits to the $5,000 payday over Jesse Wisecarver and Braydon Berry.

Holcombe picked up right where he left off on Sunday evening as he clocked in second-fastest in his qualifying group before finishing third in the Climb to the Pole. Surviving a scrap that left the right side of his machine damaged, Austin took the lead on lap eight and raced to the checkered flag over Austin Self and Ray Kable.

The win netted him $2,500, bringing his weekend total to $7,500 for the sweep.
